The main reason you are reading this website is because
of Kathy Liebert. In the summer of 2000 Kathy told me I should open a website as a place to store my ever increasing load of poker
strategy articles. I didn't know anything about websites at the time, but eventually it managed to penetrate my skull that she could
actually have a good idea. As always, thanks Kathy.
Now also the winningest female tournament poker
player of all time (by a wide margin) and a World Series of Poker champion, Kathy is probably best known as the winner of the first
Party Poker Million tournament -- the first time a woman won a tournament with a posted first prize of one million dollars. (She made
a three way deal with Berj Kacherian and Phil Hellmuth, with her actually taking home about half that.) Prior to this victory, Kathy
perhaps had more second place tournament finishes than any two other people put together. She was a second place phenom, except...

I first met Kathy in 1994, immediately after she began playing major tournaments. She had two, what else, second place finishes at the
Gold Coast Open just prior to her coming to Los Angeles for the first time to play in a tournament series at the Normandie Casino.
By some miracle, she managed to needle my play all day, knock me out in third place, and then win the tournament. It seemed like a
hundred years before she actually came in first in another event, so I had to live for years and years and years with the shame of
being the only one to ever lose to her...
