 Doyle
Brunson could be called the bridge between three generations of poker players: the pre-1970 road gamblers, the
mathematically focused players of the 1980s and 1990s, and those of the
TV generation of today. Doyle wroteSuper System
the first poker book by a top player (also including contributions from other successful players). Through all the changes of
the past decades, Doyle managed to adapt and stay at the top of the game -- no small feat in itself, but more remarkable due
to the adapting he had to do simply because so many players literally "had the book" on him and his philosophy of
play. Doyle's son, Todd Brunson, is also a very successful player.
Doyle and Johnny Chan are the only two players to have won ten
World Series of Poker bracelets. --
