I don't play that much poker anymore, so I don't know that many of the newest flash-in-the-pan
poker celebrities, nor all of the newer genuinely talented poker stars (don't confuse the two), but... well, its more than a bit
amazing to me that there even is such a thing as a "poker celebrity"! Aside from Amarillo Slim, such a creature literally didn't
exist. Johnny Chan's appearance in Rounders created another minor poker celebrity,
but nowadays all you have to do is shake a bush and off will fall a half dozen "poker celebrities"!
So I've decided to finally add a section to Play Winning Poker about some of the players who have demonstrated ability as well as a
bit of celebrity over time. Half of these folks are friends of mine, while I know the rest casually. I've resisted the temptation to
needle them mercilessly, but hopefully there will be a few tidbits here that readers will find helpful to themselves in their own
poker careers. Remember, this site is dedicated to helping readers become better players themselves. Besides the obvious, one
commonality between all these players is their self-motivation to continually become better players. When you are a top player,
there is always more to learn. Only those well below the top think they are done with learning.
