Mac
users tend to love their Macs and look perplexed at why Windows users don't "get it", but one way Macs
are at a bit of a disadvantage is when it comes to playing poker online. The bulk of online poker playing is done
via downloading software compatible with the Windows operating system. Cross-platform downloads have popped up
occasionally but to date no multi-platform compatible downloadable software has any meaningful share of the market.
Fortunately for Macintosh and Linux users there are some alternatives. All the
online poker card rooms advertised on this page are
playable on the Mac or Linux operating systems if you use an emulator like
Virtual PC. There may be other emulators
out there that work just as well, but since Apple offers this Microsoft product for sale, I would take that as a good recommendation.
If you can't be bothered with an emulator program, in addition to Windows downloadable clients,
Party Poker,
Pacific Poker,
Full Tilt Poker and
Pokerstars also offer software for Macs.
All the card rooms offer free poker games, so you can check out the different game interfaces without risk. -- Steve Badger
